ABSNC GRANTS REACCREDITATION TO THE BOARD OF CERTIFICATION FOR EMERGENCY NURSING

BIRMINGHAM, AL (December 21, 2016) – The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification, Inc. (ABSNC), announced it has granted reaccreditation to the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) for the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN®) certification program.

ABSNC accreditation is a peer-reviewed mechanism that allows nursing certifying organizations to obtain program accreditation by demonstrating compliance with the highest quality standards in the industry.

“Accreditation is a highly desirable distinction for organizations that certify nurses in a specialty,” said Dottie Roberts, EdD, MSN, MACI, RN, OCNS-C®, CMSRN, ABSNC Accreditation Manager. “Applicant organizations complete a rigorous process to demonstrate maintenance of a quality certification program in meeting the ABSNC standards and earning this prestigious recognition.”

“The accreditation of the CEN program by ABSNC is of great importance to the emergency nurses who hold the credential, and to those nurses who are in the process of achieving the CEN credential,” stated Sandra Samargis, BCEN Executive Director.  “Many employers cover the cost of the exam fee because the CEN program is accredited and meets the high-standards as set forth by ABSNC.” The CEN credential is currently held by more than 32,500 RNs.
