CPEN CERTIFICATION TO BE SOLELY OWNED BY BCEN
PNCB and BCEN Mutually Agree to Dissolve Joint Ownership
Naperville, IL (July 1, 2016) – The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) announced today that their respective boards of directors have mutually agreed to dissolve PNCB-BCEN joint ownership of the Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN®) credential.
Effective June 30, 2016, BCEN has acquired sole ownership of the CPEN program to include the management of all exam and recertification processes.
Service to CPEN exam candidates and current CPENs will not be impacted by this transition and the CPEN credential will remain valid for all actively certified CPENs.
“The joint effort of this partnership, which began in 2008, resulted in the highly successful launch and subsequent accreditation of the CPEN exam,” remarked PNCB Chair Nicole Telhiard, DNP, RN, CPN, NE-BC. “We look forward to seeing continued growth under the BCEN leadership.”
