Does BCEN have a philosophy about communicating with certified nurses and candidates?
Our goal is to support BCEN-certified nurses and candidates and their careers. But even before that, we want every emergency, transport and trauma nurse, or nurses who are considering the emergency nursing specialty, to know we care about them and are with them every step of the way of their career.

Whether you’re getting BCEN certified for the first time or accumulating CEs towards recertification, or perhaps you’re a student or a novice nurse aspiring to become the best emergency, transport or trauma nurse you can be, we make it a priority to listen and respond to your individual needs.

BCEN has really stepped up its communications and outreach. What are you most proud of?
In just the last 2 years, we’ve enhanced and expanded our communications, and made them more fun and engaging, so that everyone can stay in touch as often as they like and in whatever ways work best for them — whether that’s by phone or email or through our new website or revamped newsletter.

We’ve definitely stepped up our game on Facebook and LinkedIn with more news, tips and information, and of course your “My Why” stories. If Instagram is your thing, you can follow BCEN and our amazing InstaCrew. I’m also very proud of the Make Your Case, Support Your Nurse and Nurse Recognition kits we’ve developed. You can check those out here.

When you talk with BCEN nurses and candidates, what about them inspires you?
I’m so inspired by how dedicated BCEN nurses are to their work and by the pride they feel in being board certified. It’s very rewarding to work for an organization that cares so much about its candidates and certificants. I’m particularly inspired when I hear a nurse describe how our certifications boost their confidence and elevate their critical thinking and specialty expertise.

What do you love most about your work at BCEN?
I’ve always been a people person. I love talking to people, and as a young professional, I noticed it was easy for me to engage with people and get to know and understand them just by listening to them. So marketing was a natural fit, and I feel like this role was built for me. I love every chance I get to talk to our nurses. The next time you are at a conference, be sure to visit our booth. I’d love to hear your story!
