BCEN Grows Certification & Accreditation Team in Anticipation of Program Expansion
The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®), the benchmark for nursing specialty certification across the emergency spectrum, welcomed Meagan White, PhD, RN, NPD-BC, as BCEN’s Senior Manager of Certification and Accreditation. Working closely with Amy Grand, MSN, RN, ICE-CCP, BCEN’s Director of Certification and Accreditation, White will support the continued growth, quality, and evolution of BCEN’s nationally accredited certification programs while advancing certification and accreditation initiatives that benefit emergency, trauma, transport and burn nurses worldwide.
This newly created role reflects BCEN’s continued investment in the strength and scalability of its certification programs. With a new certification program in the initial stages of development, the opportunity to expand the organization’s certification and accreditation team aligned strongly with White’s experience leading national clinical and professional certification programs in highly regulated healthcare environments.
White joins BCEN following more than a decade of leadership at the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), where she most recently served as Assistant Director, Certification, Accreditation and Governance. In that role, she helped lead national operations and program strategy for 51 certification and accreditation programs serving more than 300,000 healthcare professionals. Her work spanned performance improvement, regulatory analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with legal, IT, psychometrics, finance and governance teams to ensure quality, compliance and scalable program delivery.

A registered nurse and board-certified nursing professional development leader with over 15 years of healthcare operations, education, and workforce development experience, White has built a career focused on improving quality, engagement, and outcomes through evidence-based program management and performance improvement. At ANCC, she led program evaluation and applied research initiatives, modernized certification and accreditation processes, developed operational frameworks to support regulatory and clinical practice changes, and directed the nationally recognized Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP), which helps healthcare organizations deliver high-quality nurse residency programs. She managed a team of 60+ contracted clinical reviewers, led standards development, and secured recognition from the U.S. Department of Labor for the program.
White’s career began at the bedside as a labor and delivery nurse at UPMC Hamot Hospital, where she later cross-trained in postpartum, pediatrics and surgical/gynecology units. She then became a unit educator for Women’s and Infant Services, where she was passionate about teaching and supporting new nurses. She went on to become a nursing instructor at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she developed a clinical simulation program and contributed to curriculum and NCLEX success initiatives.
Highly engaged with the nursing certification and accreditation community, White serves on the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC), has presented nationally and internationally on certification, accreditation and nursing workforce topics, and was named an NLN Jonas Nurse Scholar in 2018. She is board-certified in Nursing Professional Development through ANCC and holds a Credentialing Specialist Certificate from the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE). She earned a PhD in Nursing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Edinboro University.
