Strengthening Burn Care: BCEN and Phoenix Society Partner to Support Burn Survivors and Nurses

At its heart, burn care is about community — survivors, families, and multidisciplinary burn care teams walking the recovery journey together. And behind every survivor there is a team of nurses providing not only lifesaving care, but also the advocacy, compassion, and expertise needed at every step of the healing process. Through a new partnership, BCEN and the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors are joining forces to strengthen this circle of care by connecting burn clinicians, survivors and families with impactful education, resources and recognition opportunities. For survivors and families, this will mean added confidence that their nurses are prepared to deliver the highest level of care at every stage. For nurses, it means an opportunity to grow in their specialty, join a community of nationally certified nurses dedicated to advancing burn care, and be recognized for their expertise and commitment to excellence.

. The Phoenix Society is committed to ensuring every survivor receives compassionate, expert care that supports both physical and emotional healing. Through the Certified Burn Registered Nurse (CBRN) certification program, BCEN empowers burn nurses to practice at the forefront of burn care.

“Certification like the CBRN represents a crucial step in ensuring survivors receive the highest standard of care throughout every stage of recovery,” said Jill Sproul, MS, RN, Phoenix Society’s Senior Director of Programs and Services. “We are excited to partner with BCEN and support their efforts to promote excellence in burn nursing.” “BCEN is committed to elevating the care that survivors and their families receive from the burn nurses on their care teams through our high-quality nursing credentials and resources,” said BCEN CEO Janie Schumaker, MBA, BSN, RN, CEN, ICE-CCP, CENP, CPHQ, FABC. “We’re honored to be included as a Phoenix Society partner.” When nurses and patients are supported, healing and hope flourish.
