Submit Your CPEN Application

Once you’ve read and understand the CPEN eligibility requirements, you’re ready to complete your application. Create or log in to your BCEN account to fill out your application online.

Before you can schedule your exam, you’ll need to pay for it in full. There are two ways to do this, online or by mail.

Important Note: Online payments are processed immediately and will enable you to schedule your exam on the day your application is submitted. Mail-in payments can take up to four weeks to process, and you will be unable to schedule until you receive your exam eligibility email.

Schedule Your CPEN Exam

Once BCEN has processed your exam application, you will receive an exam eligibility email containing important information on your 90-day testing window and how to schedule an exam appointment with BCEN’s test delivery provider, PSI Exams.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind:

  • You must schedule and sit for your CPEN exam within your 90-day testing window, which you will receive upon completing your CPEN application.
  • We encourage you to schedule your date to sit for the exam promptly, as test center availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: You cannot walk in to sit for an exam; it must be scheduled.
  • To gain admission to your testing center or live remote proctored exam, you must present a valid ID. The first and last name you use to register for the exam must match your ID exactly. Check BCEN’s candidate handbook for complete identification requirements.
  • Please be aware that test takers will be asked to undergo a metal detection wanding inspection as part of the security checks at the test center.
  • There are no reschedule/cancellation fees for candidates who cancel and reschedule their appointment more than 24 hours prior to their scheduled appointment time (this is calculated based on the time zone of the testing center where you have an exam scheduled, or the location of live remote proctoring) AND are still within their 90-day eligibility window.
  • Candidates who fail to cancel and reschedule within these guidelines or do not arrive for their appointment will forfeit the full exam fee.
