Easier Navigation, Smarter Search: Meet the New BCEN Website
BCEN’s redesigned website, launched in early May, was built to create a faster, more intuitive experience to better support current and prospective certified RNs, nurse leaders and educators, hospital administrators, and anyone seeking information about national nursing specialty certification and continuing education in the emergency, trauma, flight, critical care ground transport and burn specialties.
Here are six new features of the updated BCEN.org you won’t want to miss!
Six Things to Know About BCEN’s New Website
1. Easier Navigation with Modern Mega Menus
BCEN.org’s new main navigation features modern “mega menus” organized into five high-level categories: Get Board Certified, Recertify, Continuing Education, Resources and About.
Hover over each tab to reveal descriptive text and quick links to help visitors understand where each path leads before clicking.
The streamlined structure reduces guesswork and helps mobile and desktop visitors more efficiently find certifications, renewal options, continuing education, and certification resources and support tools, as well as news and information about BCEN.
2. A New “Get Board Certified” Hub
The new Get Board Certified landing page brings all of BCEN’s specialty certification programs together in one location, alongside testimonials, Value of Certification study data points, and FAQs for nurses, leaders and admins who want to learn more about specialty certification.
Hover over the Get Board Certified tab to quickly go to any of BCEN’s six certification program pages or visit the quick links on the right-hand side to get to our most-visited pages.
The Get Board Certified landing page serves as an intuitive starting point for current and prospective certificants while making it easier for employers, educators and nurse leaders to share certification information with their teams.
3. Smarter Sitewide Search
BCEN’s enhanced sitewide search now indexes content from both BCEN.org and BCEN Learn—allowing users to find relevant certification, recertification, and certification support resources as well as CE courses, free webinars, practice exams, review courses and other professional development offerings in a single search experience.
Instead of navigating between the two platforms, users can quickly connect with the full range of BCEN offerings in just a few clicks.
4. Centralized Resource Library with Advanced Filtering
BCEN’s new Resource Library brings together BCEN Updates, news releases, media coverage, research and journal articles, certification support resources and toolkits, and reports, newsletters and other publications into one searchable location.
Users can filter resources by certification specialty and resource type, search by keyword and combine filters for highly targeted results—making it much easier to quickly locate relevant content without needing to know an exact title or webpage.
5. Dynamic BCEN Learn Course Integration
The Continuing Education landing page now features a dynamically updated BCEN Learn course feed that automatically displays trending CE courses followed by educational offerings by clinical category, including cardiovascular care, respiratory, neurological, medical emergencies, pediatric and professional development courses, bundles, webinars, games and more.
This integration keeps course information current while helping nurses more easily discover relevant continuing education content and opportunities.
To get to the BCEN Learn platform, click on the Explore Our Courses button at the top of the page.
6. Enhanced Voucher Support Tools
BCEN’s Voucher Program savings calculator is back and better than ever—allowing organizations and nurses to compare voucher options, estimate savings, and view clear cost breakdowns for certification, recertification, practice exams, review courses and test assurance options.
In addition, a new integrated Calendly scheduling tool makes it easy to book a consultation directly with BCEN’s voucher program specialist, Stephanie Klavohn, so that employers, nurse leaders and educators, and nurses making individual purchases can get more personalized support.
Retired Features and New Alternatives
Looking for something from the old site and can’t quite find it? As part of the transition to the new BCEN website, a small number of legacy resources and tools were phased out or replaced with updated alternatives designed to better support today’s users.
The student-focused BCEN EDvantage program has been sunset. In its place, nursing students, new grads and aspiring emergency and flight nurses can access the Intro to Emergency Nursing Courses Bundle available through BCEN Learn, offering foundational emergency nursing education and career tips in a more modern and accessible format.
In addition, the external review course submission and search tool has been discontinued. Nurses seeking certification prep resources are encouraged to use broader online search tools, explore offerings from nursing professional societies, and consider BCEN’s review courses and practice exams.
