Empowered People, Exceptional Results: BCEN Earns Sixth Brandon Hall Group Award
The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) has proudly won its sixth Brandon Hall Group™ Excellence Award® since 2021. In the first year this specific award has been offered, BCEN earned a Bronze for Employee Engagement in the Excellence in Action award program.
The 2025 Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards recognize organizations of all sizes and industries that are committed to enhancing employee engagement, fostering a people-centric culture, and enhancing productivity through employee feedback. Entries were evaluated by a panel of experts based upon these criteria: initiatives, measurable impact, key metrics, employee testimonials, and organizational impact stories.
“The Excellence in Action Awards honor organizations that have made extraordinary commitments to elevating their people. These winning programs demonstrate how thoughtful design, intentional culture-building, and authentic employee engagement can transform the workplace experience. Each honoree represents a powerful example of what it means to put people at the center of business success,” said Rachel Cooke, Brandon Hall Group Chief Operating Officer and leader of the Excellence Awards program.
BCEN’s entry, titled “Empowered People, Exceptional Results,” highlighted the organization’s annual employee engagement survey, quarterly problem-solving “hack days,” team building activities which often include volunteering, and skills work using the CliftonStrengths assessment. The entry was bolstered by three staff testimonials and an impact story, all in video format. With a small but mighty staff of 14, BCEN is honored to be recognized for its strong employee engagement and organizational impact.
“At BCEN, our employee engagement program is driven forward every day, as it is a core part of how we grow and work together,” said BCEN CEO Janie Schumaker, MBA, BSN, RN, CEN, ICE-CCP, CENP, CPHQ, FABC. “We’re incredibly honored to receive this award that validates the efforts made by leadership and staff to work collaboratively, recognize often, and contribute positively to organizational culture.”
